For the first time in a long while, my '84 had engine run on today after I got home from work. I believe running higher octane gas through the engine can help clean it and remove the carbon buildup that is causing this runon. However, as gas just jumped 20 cents a gallon today and premium is at $2.50 a gallon, I'd like to know if there is an octane booster that can be bought that would work.
I want to make sure, if I do get an octane booster, that it's a quality brand and will actually do the job. However if it's a $7 or $8 dollar bottle, then I might as well fill up with premium and run a good tank of gas right from the gas station.
Any thoughts from all of you?
Thanks,
John
