sometimes they work and sometimes they don't what could be the cause of this??? the flashers always work and when the turn signals dont work the clicking and lights on the dash dont come on either.

HI there,
The principle is this. Your brake lights, your hazard lights, your turn signals, and part of the daytime running lights are all channeled through your hazard switch.
This is why your hazard switch will function correctly when you enable it. However, the rest does NOT.
Another check would be to test the following. When your car is off, turn the left signal on, then turn your hazards on. If your left signal does NOT flash, this circuit is ok.
Then, turn on the right signal. If the right signal does NOT flash when the signal is on, then you found out the problem is NOT the turn signal switch, it is your hazard switch.
If you step on your brake pedal when your hazards are on, and they stop flashing, but are still illuminated, then you know the brake light circuit is ok.

its all messed up...I think its the hazard switch/board

left signal on then flashers on left continues to flash
then go to right...right continues to flash
shut right off all still flashing
hit brakes both rear continue to flash and the center brake light comes on

so its the hazzard switch

also during this testing (first time I have been in it and experienced this) the hazzard switch is very sensitive. get it in the right position and they blink and click faster in another it goes off wiggle (not push) and they will go on again.

what would the repair be for this? price? possible to do at home?
special tools required?

thanks for your help so far but I can see this problem is fixed yet

HI there,
YOu will need a T15, 7mm socket, 10mm socket.
You have to remove the center console, radio trim bezel, and the upper dash pad.
It will take about 1 hour to do, as the hazard switch is mounted inside the upper dash pad.

how much is the switch?(roughly) or part #?
