Grand Sport Exclusive Video - 2010 Grand Sport LS3 Dry Sump System

For discussions related to a Grand Sport Corvette.
Does it need this?

These engines do not come on Grand Sports with Automatic transmissions, nor do they come with the Grand Sport convertibles
Does this mean the grand sport convertible is a better built vette that it does not need the dry sump?

Oil Starvation?

Hope this system works better than the '06-'08 LS7 system. Oil starvation issue in prolonged left hand turns has caused engine damage and several failures. :eyerole
Does it really matter the car and the engine is under warranty.

Differnce between standard Conv and GS Conv

If GS convertible doesn't have dry sum and different crank then curious minds want to know what is the difference b/w standard conv and GS conv? Why fork out $5k for GS conv if difference is just cosmetic like wider fenders? Could someone list the differences?

The LS3 that goes into the manual trans GS coupe is built at Wixholm where the LS9 and LS7 is hand-built.
The dry sump LS3 is forged steel and has a longer snout.
The wet-sump LS3's in the automatic GS coupe and auto/manual GS convertible uses a cast iron crank.

Seeing that the LS9 also uses dry sump oiling, I wonder if the LS9 and the dry-sump LS3 cranks are one in the same as both are forged steel? Dimensionally they should be identical, but I wonder about metallurgy?

the only other GEN IV crank that is forged is used in the 7.0 LS7 and in the Cadillac 556hp supercharged 6.2 LSA.
