I have recently purchased a 96 LT4 and notice that the mufflers and exhaust tips are black. I have noticed that not all 96 corvettes have black exhaust tips. Are the black tips exclusive to the LT4 ?

No. My '92 has the same "black" big square tips.

I'm thinking no, they're not. My LT4 is stock and it does not have black exhaust tips.

C G 'S 92 convert has black tips. Is your L T 4 a coupe or vert?

It's a coupe. But... I'm thinking I must be a moron. :Silly Or blind, or just plain stupid! :SLAP

I would have sworn they weren't black... but I checked today and the mufflers and tips are black. :bash

So much for my credibility... :CRASH

My new coupe has black tips also. The mufflers are not stock tho, but the tips seem to be.

Mine had the black square tips also. I just pulled the whole thing off in one piece and installed a Magnaflow catback. Much Better....

I'm going to upgrade the exhaust on mine at some point soon. I've been considering Magnaflow, though it seems like Borla and Corsa have a better rep, and they cost more. Did you consider either of those brands and how did you decide on the Magnaflow? How easy is it to do by yourself? Thanks.

I have magnaflows on my truck and like the sound. Magnaflow stainless catback cost me about 500 delivered to the house. Borla is a great system also but they are too proud of it.

Took about an afternoon and a 12 pack to change it out, biggest headache was when a bolt broke off on the cat and I had to drill it out. Pretty straightforward install. Only thing I recommend is to either weld the joints or use ss band clamps instead of the standard u clamps, gives it a much cleaner appearance- not that you can see very much of it under there!

Alright, sounds good. Thanks for the feedback! :beer
