Started work on my new exhaust from the cat back. Got the pipe done now need to work on a couple mufflers.
The pipe is 3 in OD 304 food grade stainless. I bought some elbows we use at work and cut them to the right angles. laid everything on top of the old pipe and matched it all up.Tacked it together took it home and was a perfect fit.Fired up my Tig at home and welder all up. I made the flare on the lathe at work, used a bearing on a shaft in the tool turret and beveled it out. Total cost of this so far is $16 each for three elbows plus about 10 cents a lb for 40 in of scrap pipe pieces. Maybe 20 lbs . Hope I don't drop the back pressure to much and lose the bottom end power.

Thank you. I do have about 8 to 10 hrs in that pipe. If I were to do it again I think that time would be about half.

That is good looking work and the price is right.

I wouldn't worry about a drop in bottom end power. The L98 exhaust systems are notoriously restrictive. You should feel a little kick in power.

would you take 200.00 for another one that would fit my 88? thats alot better looking than the junk mid-am and echelers trys to sell you for the same money

I might consider it but if yours isn't just like mine I would need a pattern.

Finally got back to finishing my exhaust. Here are some pictures of the results.
It is a little loud but you can still carry on a conversation.
I don't think I would want to drive open road all day with it, so in the near future I need to find some mufflers a little quieter than the ones I built. It did impress some local teenagers. :chuckle
I need to find a way of posting a good audio of it in the near future.

Very nice looking set-up. I have a friend with a 91 that would buy that set-up for a couple hundred bucks in a heartbeat.

Get to work bro, you are getting orders for your craftsmanship.

Thank you for the positive comments.Having a manufacturing plant at my disposal helps a lot.
I have a few other things to do on the 90. Check the plugs , some settings, spring cleanup .
Once that is done I may weld up another cat back without mufflers and see what kind of money it would bring.
