Take $3000 and put it in a CD or Money Market account and hope your car never has a bad breakdown. Don't touch the money for anything else but repairs for your Corvette. That may turn out to be better that any protection plan.

A few dollars set aside just in case is better than no policy at all. I'm not so sure he can find a policy for a 60K mile used Corvette at least not for a reasonable price form a reputable company.

I agree...I do not know who would give a policy at 60K that didn't cost a fortune and I would also say that "any" money is better than no policy at all...:beer

Got the GM extended deal on my 2003, one major problem and it will pay for itself.

You invest tens of thousands of dollars on a Corvette, you should invest a few thousand on an extended warranty. It's good insurance.

Well depending on which GM dealer you ask in South Florida they'll give me a GMPP or not for about $3000-$4000 with 60K miles. One dealership said I would need a GM inspection to get the coverage; another said if I got the inspection I would still get a rejection letter from GMPP directly. Others said they couldn't give it to me at all. Seems to be a conflict with our state laws and warranties in general. I'm going to have to get in touch with a GMPP rep directly to see what the deal is. But it's looking like I'm stuck with 'Old Republic' :cry.

That just plain sucks...looks like "old Republic" isn't worth a rats azz.....also looks like your Vette is still a beauty and 60K miles on it isn't much milage... but if I were you, I would gladly spend 3-4K for a GMPP because if you are planning to keep your '01 then an engine rebuild from a dropped valve or a bad crank or cracked block or a thrown rod could cost up to 10K not to mention the transmission messing up or many other expensive things going bad...it could cost 10-30K in parts and repairs...so I would definately get the GMPP no matter what...Just my opinion...:beer

One problem and it's history!!!!!!!!

Hi
I have a 96 with under 50,000 miles and no warranty period. For the last two years it cost me the intial check up and the oil and lube.

If something went south and it cost me $2000 l would cry but l would fix it. If it happened a second time bye, bye.

My next vette will be a much newer one with a warranty period.

This thread gives me the heebee jeebees thinking about the downside.

Tell me about it sucking :ugh. My car is a beauty, and I'm willing to spend 3-4k for the piece of mind down the road; but only if they will truly cover me in Florida. Don't want to spend it, then get a rejection letter from GMPP a month later and end up with no waranty at all. It blows big time :puke.

I just got my GMPP extended warranty, with not a moment to spare. I would like to add a few things for those who may follow this thread later:

1) Warranty Direct does not offer extended warranty on Z06's.
2) GMPP will only allow you to purchase an extended warranty during the period that the standard warranty is in effect. I bought my car on April 9, 2002, and just started getting serious about researching extended warranties yesterday (April 8, 2005). After the first phone call I realized it was now or never.
3) The extended warranty takes effect from the day that you buy it. I.e. the mileage and years that you buy start at the point that you buy it.

FYI, my car has 15,000 miles. I got an additional 5 years and 40k miles, Zero deductible, for $1390 through Tom Jumper Chevrolet. They were able to match Fitchner's price, albeit with a bit of "back and forth" between sales and service ;)

So basically, my warranty (standard plus extended) will be for a total of 8 years, 55k miles. (I don't put lots of miles on it).

I went looking for my warranty info on my first Corvette, a '94 with 75,000 miles on it that I purchased in June of 2001. Can't find the original contract right now but I did find one of their postcards where they notified me of a payment for a repair.

I don't have time to dig for a web address or see if they're even still in business but here's the info from the postcard:

Auto Services Company Inc.
P.O.Box 2400
Mountain Home, AR 72654-2400

Hope this helps.

We are sorry. Warranty Direct only provides protection to vehicles that are still covered under their original full factory warranty in the state of Florida.
:(

Also tried Ken or Dennis Fitchner at Fitchnerchevrolet.com and was told that he couldn't give me a policy because my '01 coupe is out of warranty.

I'm struggling to replace my 'Old Republic' policy, due to thier bad customer service (took them a week to deny my last claim), with something that will actually pay for repairs. I've taken it in for oil presure sensor, tie rods, right fuel level sensor and SAI valve, and the steering wheel's telescoping actuator. I got their second to best 'Silver Plus' plan, but it still didn't cover any of the above items. :mad

Anyone know someone in South Florida that can sell me a GMPP policy at a great price for an '01 coupe with 59,000 miles?

Maybe I'm missing something, but I got a quote from Warranty Direct that said they WILL cover vehicles no more than 4 years old with less than 50,000 miles on the clock as long as they pass an inspection. I am in TX, so I don't know if that will make a difference.

The good news is I just put a deposit on a 2001 Coupe!!! You can bet I'll be all over this coverage!
