Factory Warrantee

Can putting in an aftermarked stereo void factory warrantee? I know it sounds stupid, but just preparing my self...

I imagine it would void the warranty for the sound system at least.

These days w/ all the interfaced computer stuff/voltages/grounds etc. I would say clearly yes. It's the "out" your dealer needs when he's looking at a problem repair.

Keep your stock unit & stick it back in if you need to bring the car back for an electronics type repair.

Hi there,
As far as the audio system, yes, it would void the warranty.
Bose makes better speakers for c5, that really make a world of difference. And they work with the standard audio system amplifier and head unit.

Where can I purchase these Bose speaker up grades? Thanks Bill

Thanks for the info, I was just asking as I have already installed a $5,000.00 Alpine/JL Audio system. The amps were causing a 2amp draw at rest and draining my battery. I was forced to put in t a magnetic breaker between the amps and battery to shut off power while at rest. I guess you improve one thing and break another!

Optima has some batteries that are supposed to work well with high end audio installs. Go to their web site.

Hi there,
From my information, they have stopped making the speakers because noone was buying them.
Sorry, but now there are no replacements.
I have gone to Bose for a definitive answer, but have yet to hear back.
Lets see how it goes, c4c5:hb

Please let us know if Bose has an upgraded speaker, I would like to stay with the Bose brand.

Do the upgraded Bose speakers work with an after market head unit? Are there any 8" speakers that can easily replace the stock Bose door panel speakers?

Unfortunatly the stock head unit in my '99 does not do things like play mp3's or have even an option to upgrade and use satellite radio. If GM/Bose don't want you to switch out their stock head unit they should consider that maybe some people would want these options!!

Thanks for any info!

Matt
