There is a fan operated cylinder shaped tank located just below the drivers side headlight that is makeing a terrible noise. What is it and and is their a shortcut to fixing it?

That is the AIR pump. I don't know of a fix but I would remove it, disassemble, clean, lube motor and reinstall. Sure couldn't hurt and maybe fix it.

the air pump.

if you have emissions testing then you need it.



it should only run for a very short time after start up, then off until the next cold start, run cycle. When they go bad most people just replace.
