Just did round trip from Boston MA to Hilton Head SC on business trip, three days driving and two day meeting. Total milage 2300, just gas and run. Did mannage The Sky Line Drive parkway, empty for the most part and I can see why, not a place to be if you are in rush, still worth a visit. My 95 never missed a beat, average gas milage 22.2. Somewhere in SC had a run in with a porsche 928 we both ran hard for a few miles a bit of fun, but the Law was heavy and the chance of a ticket high, came awful close a few times though. The seats are the best I have ever been in, it is just a joy to climb into that car and drive for 12 hours plus. With the flares and 315 tires this car looked impressive. Great ride.

Some people dont like the ride. I am still young and prefer to road trip in the vette over anything else. I too feel that the car offers a certain comfort you cant get from the large sedans. What can I say, it is a great riding car.

Yea for some reason in my mind the C4 just feels out the road and is a different ride from all the big sedans and luxury cars, but I would rather take a road trip in the vette then a bigger car.

I am gonna find out how well I like the vette for a road trip on the weeked of the10th. Takinga 750 mile round trip to Kansas City . I do have a little issue with the seat though . may have to put something in the lumbar area. My back gets a funny bend to it . Mine is a 90 convert with 6 speed. And as close as I can figure has 4.11 gears in it. Still knocking out over 22 mpg average with some 50 mile runs mixed with 15 mile runs. Gonna be intresting to see how it does on the open road.

you will love it, the steady drone of that big V8 gives the feeling it could go forever. gas is going up though and if you push it hard the mileage drops, still you do what what you have to do. Have a great trip, watch the hills, you never know whats on the other side.

Longest I've done is a 500 mile trip to Carlisle in one day this past August, with the sport seats in my 88 roadster and 315's on the rear (looks good) who the heck cars about gas mileage? It was just a joy to drive and enjoy!

In July I did Route 66 from Chicago to LA, did it in a week. The drive was awsome. 10 hours a day. The difference in roads, Hills and curves in IL and MO, Flat straight aways in OK and TX, the curves in the Mojave. My 85 did great, ran a little warm at stops in NM (230 temp until I moved!!!). Best drive I ever did. Gonna do it again next year. And the people, boy they loved the Vette. As a reward, I have been cleaing and giving a few Mods to my baby. If you ever want to go, take the Highway thats the best...for Corvettes

Will look into that for sure, but I love 81 down through PA, can smell the farms the chicken ****, cow do do and all those wounderful farm smells plus all the rigs run like hell. You are right, who cares about gas price when the drive of a lifetime is going on. I have spent the last 10 years or so driving Mitsu VR4 turbos and they were fun but nothing beats this corvette, climbing into this car makes me feel like I should run a preflight protocall.

i did new york to vegas, 2600 miles in my old 91 without so much as a hiccup. auto with 3.07's i got about 20 mpg from what i remember. it took three days, 12 hours a day. i would definitly do it again. i had a run in with an older ferrari 308. the best part about that was my dad trying to find something to grab onto as we were reaching triple digits.
