93 LT1 Conv (210,000 Miles) driven daily. Replaced distributor (Opti-Spark) recently. Engine idles @ 1100 RPM. Hurts in town milage, getting 28 MPG @ 70 MPH highway. Runs great other wise.

Vacuum leak? Some hose not plugged back in all the way?

By the way, that 28 mpg is awesome. I was getting 18 on a long trip, but on a 3.73 rear.

I have a 93 LT1 Coupe, and just replace the OptiSpark at 60K miles.

I have a problem with high idle, but others have suggested that the throttle body needs cleaning - the butterflies stick. I would agree with that because the times I do spray and clean with throttle body cleaner, it works OK for a couple of days. I think I need to remove the TB and give it a thorough cleaning.

Don't know if this is true with yours, but my idle would drop to normal rpm when I would tap the gas pedal - again pointing to the TB needing cleaning (at least I hope a thorough clean will do it and the TB does not need to be replaced).

I had the same problem, throttle body sticking, mine would be fine for a few months after cleaning then would start sticking agian, rev at 1100rpm. I cleaned it 3 times this year and the fourth time did no justice, so last week I decided to go and get a new one. It runs so much better now.

Fast Idle - Throttle Body?

Two out of three ain't bad....will work on throttle body, hope it cures the problem....will advise!

Talmadge 1,

Two questions:
1) where did you get your new TB?

2) I think I will probably try the thorough cleaning first before replacing, and noted that you have done this before. Now, when taking the TB off the car, the TV cable (connected to the TB butterflies) must be removed. I don't have the service manual in front of me, but I believe it said that after reattaching this cable, it was be reset. But I could not find anything in the manual that said how to reset the cable - unless I just missed it.

Did you do this resetting of that cable, and if so, how?

Thanks in advance,
Jack W.

Jack W,
I wanted to replace mine with the original type, so I started with dealership, they told me that mine had been discontinued last year, mine being an 1988. Anyways, I found one at The Last Detail Shop located in Atlanta, Ga. Yours being 1993 maybe it hasn't been discountinued. The TV cable on mine just snapped on the throttle body, no adjustment needed on mine, not sure how your year model is designed. The website address for The Last Detail Shop is http://tld-corvette.com they were super nice and I had the throttle body at my door the next day.
