I am thinking about doing my own tuning for now on. Any recommendations on which edit software I should get? I have a LT4 for those who dont know what engine. I am looking at LT1 edit or TunerCat. If anyone has experince with them please advise.

I have not heard anything about LT1 edit, but I have heard of a lot of people running LS1 edit, and love it. I am not sure about the differences between what those two. Good luck.

I'd Talk to Hrtbeat1 he's purdy Sharp on that Stuff!!:upthumbs junk!!

I use Tunercat and really like it. The graph mode makes it easy to fine tune certain areas. You can actually grab the graph and pull or push a certain area of the maps. The table mode is helpful also you can change the whole table by multiples, individual cells, or select a certain area on the table and make a general change. One of the disadvantages are the number of tdf files (files that describe the way the PROM is layed out for the ECM) that are needed. It seems that GM changed the layout every couple of years, and for some they were a one year only deal. This isn't too bad if you are just doing your car, but if you start tuning other cars it seems you are always going back and ordering another tdf, at $20 each they start to add up. The program comes with one ... for an older Chevy pickup.

Jeffnlisa recently had a post about getting tuning software for his LT4. It seems like he found out that the LT1edit is the only software that works with the LT4. Either that or it was the most recommended, cant say for sure I haven't done any chip work on an LT4. I'm sure Jeff could fill you in, give him a PM.

Thanks for the compliment Jessie. Actually its just been a matter of trial by fire. That and it kinda relates to my real job ... Electronics Technician.

Hi,

I went ahead & sent mine to Bryan Herter @ www.pcmforless.com
Price-wise, for me, that was the way to go. He has done a bunch of the OBD2 LT1/4 cars w/ Hotcams etc...and told me he could get me within 3-4hp of a dyno tune. With my mods, I just couldn't justify spending $300 on the software and another $300-$400 (or more) on dyno time.
For $200 my car is runnin' spot on!

I've heard good things about Tunercat and it is a bit cheaper than LT1 Edit.

Let us know what you choose to do...

Cya,
Jeff

Thanks for the info Jeff. I am still thinking about it.
