fiber optics?

As I was taking apart the console, these little electrical lines were shoved up into the lower three console light signals. They seem kind of odd looking on the ends to be in working order? They didn't work before I took them out... something missing from them or should I be looking elswhere for issues with the attached wires. Or are these fiber optic tips... if so would you say they need to be replaced? See pic.

Those are the fiber optics, and they're integral to the wiring harness (not replaceable separately); if they weren't working, they're probably disconnected from the little receptacles in the lamps they operate from, or they've been cut or broken between the lamps and the console.

There should be three of them: left tail light, right tail light, and backup light. AIM shows the installation and how they mount in the rear fiber optic lens at the base of the consloe trim plate.

You can test them with a flashlight beam directed on the fiber optic lenses in each light. If the FO lines have not been cut, you should see light at the end of the cable as you test it.

All the vendors carry them and you can find them on ebay. Order one for your year. They're worth their price.
