What a GREAT weekend :D. Saturday, Woodburn Drags, test and tune, nothing broke :_rock . So, Sunday did my first autocross and came home in one piece again. Here's some details. Both beautiful days. Saturday. overcast 67-70 deg. during runs, sea level + 100 ft., Barometer pretty steady in the 32's.

My first run (6th run ever) put me solidly in the 12's! I took 12 runs and had two runs out of the 12's for various reasons. I ran mostly in the 12.3's and 4's.

My best ET was 12.257 with a 1.755 - 60" at 113.10, and the highest MPH 115.07 with a 1.840 60" , ET 12.320 The 1.755 was also the best 60" I could pull all day running M/T slicks We tried pressures lowering from 14 to 12lb's and varying burnouts from "dusting" to full on light em up. Couldn't hook any better.

I also tried playing with different R's on the launch from 2400 or so to idle launch. I launched in Drive the first two or three runs and the car shifted in the 48-4900 range, did one run where I shifted from second to third manually and the rest full manual. 6,000 is where she would break down and float, so I got fairly consistant at shifting at 57 - 5900, 1 to 2 and pretty well at the same 2 to 3, it broke down a couple times around 5900 for a brief period on the 2-3.

I had trouble with the lights when I had the car revved on the line. I couldn't hold it and hit several red lights. But the last 3 or so runs I pulled some pretty good lights and was quite consistant in the 12.3's

I whooped up on a pretty hot Camaro on the first run and was moved from Sportsman to Pro class. He was not the only guy (myself included) that was surprised they fall victim that day :r

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday was a full day of Autocrossing ;) Never done this before. It was a tight low speed course in a tire shop parking lot. I almost didn't run cause I couldn't imagine how I could get my car to get around some of those corners!

I rode with a very experienced vette owner for one lap and he road with me three out of my four laps giving me tips that probly would have taken me weeks or months to learn :beer I improved my times by almost 8 seconds and was able to be much more aggresive the last two runs.

My friend ran approx. 2.5 seconds faster than me, actually 1.5 (with my 1 second cone penalty) and was the scond fastest car there. I was in the top third if not quarter of the 100 or so participants :D almost all of whom were very experienced autocrossers with special tires and more.

My friend was VERY impressd with the way my car handled (on the Dunlop SP 8000 street tires) and told me repeatedly that he thought I drove great, and that several people had asked where I had come from and just flat didn't believe that I had never raced before :cool

Best all around weekend I can remember (senility setting in and all) and best of all NOTHING BROKE! YEEEEHAAAA :w

fantastic sounds like all your work is paying off

So far so good :D Did I post in the wrong place :confused I kinda expected a few mor folks to chime in :beer Thanks Boss :beer

Very nice! I would love to see a figure like that on my time slip. Sounds like it was a cool experiance. We should all do more things like that.

Hey congrats!

Great times, great news, great fun!!!

I think we'll get more posts like these frome you next Monday (maybe some ETs in the high 11s) :D

:w

Sweet runs man! Congrats! What all have you done to it?

Sorry vettered91, I got a lotta other things on my plate, don't forget the Pony Express run :D It may be weeks or months before I get the BIG # I got a lot more prep to do for Nevada and I don't want my car to crap out :(

On the other hand the season points opener is only a few weeks away ;) It's gonna be a day by day and schedule thing from here :w

Oh Yea, Mustangs are spankable :L although there was a very nice vert at the autoX that was set up great and did VERY well. Rustangs were put here to be spanked :)

It's the cookie cutter that's been descibed in detail by others for the A4, with a dual exhaust.

383 stroker, SR, LPE 219, Tpis Bigmouth, ported and polished (by me), 58mm LPR, AFR 195's, 1.6 Pro Mag RR's, Hooker 2151's, Random Tech 3" metal matrix cats, Borla 2.75" exhaust, rebuild 700R4 with a Hewes 2600 stall, 3:33 D44 and other little stuff. The GS brakes are gonna go on soon.

One reason I think I may be haveing trouble hooking is cause I put in a stiffer rear monospring for road apps. That's OK though. I just wanna hit 11's once or twice and I'm gonna round it out for the road :cool

I drive the car for mileage as a daily in general, not trying to prove anything to the average motorist, just to myself ---- and acourse ya'all great enthusiasts :_rock When ya got it, you really don't have to prove it much, do ya ;LOL

Well... anyway it seems to me that you're having lots of fun and there's more to come :D and with all those mods maybe you're going to do some fine tuning to get the most out of your loved vette and for me that and spank Mustangs (at the track of course) are things that really enjoy and I bet you too!!! :L

I know you did much of the work and that's why I'm very happy for you and hope you'll keep us posted!

Save the wave :w

Moon,

How much torque are you putting out with that 383?

I haven't gotten to the Dyno and final tune yet so I don't have ANY #'s accept my times. I am waiting for a local guy to get his Dyno, should be any time now and he will also be doing the final tune.

vettered91 The motor, I bought prebuilt from a guy on another forum, with the help of Eagle85C4 from this forum who was kind enough to drive 2 hrs each way to check it out and hear it run before I had it shipped across the country
:_rock

Outside of that I have done virtually all the rest by meself in my garage, although I have met a fellow enthusiast locally who is well versed with Super Ram instalation and saved me countless hours of frustration in that arena :D
And of course I had someone else rebuild the tranny while it was all apart.

I have replaced a couple of engines with a lot of help in the past, but never anything to this extent. Virtually nothing from the radiator to the rearend in the drivetrain is how I got the car just over a year ago :(

It's nice to know that there aren't a lot of folks out there that can run with me :cool and I feel a real sence of accomplishment having completed such an overwhelming project :beer . And, very soon now (adapters are finally on the way), they won't be able to stop with me either ;LOL

Well, the main thing is that you're been doing what you enjoy the most and that is something not many of us can sometimes do!

I have owned the LT1 for a little more than a year and the 99% of the mods it haves, I did it by my self. I enjoyed every one of them and there's more to come! (as soon as I can save more $) ;shrug

I bought the vette to the original owner with 28K miles and now it's on 40k so right now a stroker is out of the question, but I really want something like UB2 mods for my vette just to keep up with the local C5s with a stock appearance
.:D

Keep us posted and let us know about those 13" Rotors ;)

Hi there Bryan!

First of all I hope you'll be back soon, I'll bet the Mustangs miss you badly back home! :L (just come back in one piece to spank them)

And about your "Stock Vette" : What about those LT4 heads? :eyerole or that Hot Cam? :D maybe you want to talk about the 58mm TB ? ;) or .... ¿who knows what else you keep under that red hood??? :L

Seriously, last thing I remember about your vette was that you where doing some fine tuning swapping TBs or testing with different fuel pressures (something like that). Did you finish your tuning? Are you planning to go for more "stock settings"

Good to know you're OK!

Hi Moonunit! Sounds like a great weekend! I was thinking about heading to woodburn one of these weekends. Not sure Ill run my car but always have a great time there.

Good news Moon! How driveable is that 2600 TC in town? I had a 2800 in a rod a few years back and it made me crazy if I took it into town.
I wish that we had a 1/4 mile track around here. I am sure that Thunder is in the low 12´s but a time slip would give me braging rights. As it is all I have is a long line of Spanked Euro trash, i.e., Porsche, Audi, BMW M series.:eyerole Oh what I would give for a ´stang to spank.;LOL

Keep an eye on this http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=789689
Seems like it would be a great opportunity for ya one way or another :w

Mic, if you throw that NOS on there with the other stuff in your new setup, and you can hook, you might just make it. But, I'm close enough that I tink some tire pressure adjustment, cooler running temps, and maybe a little chill to the intake, I'm there. Just not sure when I'll be able to get to it yet. Maybe that free track day with Tim ;)

SPANISHVETTS, I know a time slip would be nice, but you know what you've got, no way you're not low 12's. There's not often a chance to spank anyone off the track in this country if you want to stay out of jail :(

I'd gladly trade places with you for a time just to have the opportunity to run down a few cocky pretenders ;LOL The guy I autocrossed with, Tim, last weekend has a 10 sec. Vette, says his ONLY compition is the Viper. I think my Bro with the M3 is in for a big surprise whe we go to Nevada :D

No one challenges me anyway cept a formula one day in a lot of traffic, played a little and he gave me props :beer
