What a GREAT weekend . Saturday, Woodburn Drags, test and tune, nothing broke . So, Sunday did my first autocross and came home in one piece again. Here's some details. Both beautiful days. Saturday. overcast 67-70 deg. during runs, sea level + 100 ft., Barometer pretty steady in the 32's.
My first run (6th run ever) put me solidly in the 12's! I took 12 runs and had two runs out of the 12's for various reasons. I ran mostly in the 12.3's and 4's.
My best ET was 12.257 with a 1.755 - 60" at 113.10, and the highest MPH 115.07 with a 1.840 60" , ET 12.320 The 1.755 was also the best 60" I could pull all day running M/T slicks We tried pressures lowering from 14 to 12lb's and varying burnouts from "dusting" to full on light em up. Couldn't hook any better.
I also tried playing with different R's on the launch from 2400 or so to idle launch. I launched in Drive the first two or three runs and the car shifted in the 48-4900 range, did one run where I shifted from second to third manually and the rest full manual. 6,000 is where she would break down and float, so I got fairly consistant at shifting at 57 - 5900, 1 to 2 and pretty well at the same 2 to 3, it broke down a couple times around 5900 for a brief period on the 2-3.
I had trouble with the lights when I had the car revved on the line. I couldn't hold it and hit several red lights. But the last 3 or so runs I pulled some pretty good lights and was quite consistant in the 12.3's
I whooped up on a pretty hot Camaro on the first run and was moved from Sportsman to Pro class. He was not the only guy (myself included) that was surprised they fall victim that day

Sunday was a full day of Autocrossing Never done this before. It was a tight low speed course in a tire shop parking lot. I almost didn't run cause I couldn't imagine how I could get my car to get around some of those corners!
I rode with a very experienced vette owner for one lap and he road with me three out of my four laps giving me tips that probly would have taken me weeks or months to learn I improved my times by almost 8 seconds and was able to be much more aggresive the last two runs.
My friend ran approx. 2.5 seconds faster than me, actually 1.5 (with my 1 second cone penalty) and was the scond fastest car there. I was in the top third if not quarter of the 100 or so participants almost all of whom were very experienced autocrossers with special tires and more.
My friend was VERY impressd with the way my car handled (on the Dunlop SP 8000 street tires) and told me repeatedly that he thought I drove great, and that several people had asked where I had come from and just flat didn't believe that I had never raced before :cool
Best all around weekend I can remember (senility setting in and all) and best of all NOTHING BROKE! YEEEEHAAAA
