I presume one of them is the proper cloth and/or brush for washing. Recommendations?
67,
Here's what I use on my black and red cars,
I first of all use two different buckets.
One for the wheels and one for the body.
I do the wheels and underside of my cars first.
Then I move to the top.
I first spray the car real good witrh the hose.
I use Zip or Armour-All Soap (with no wax added)
with terry cloth towels.
I usually wait til afternoon to be able to wash the cars in the shade.
To dry, I use the California Blade. I know some people don't like it.
I was kind of nervous about it myself, but once I started using it, I became a believer.
After the Blade, I whip out my leaf blower to get the water out of all the nooks and crannies.
After the leaf blower, I use The Absorber (a synthetic chamois) to finish the car off.
I then go over the car with my detailer spray, Zaino's Z6 on the black C5 and Mother's Showtime on the midyear.
The California Duster is great, just make sure you let it sit for at least 24 hours to get rid of the excess parafin wax it contains. Otherwise it will streak your black paint very easily.
I then stand back and admire my beauties!
By the way...my neighbors all think I'm nuts but that's ok, it keeps them off balance!
As for the color for your mid-year..even though my '67 is red..
here's my color choice..
