Hi - I'm a newbie here - great site!

Hopefully you guys can help me out.

My dad has a 2000 C5, and we'd LOVE to know exactly how many Vettes with his options list were produced - so we can know his car is "one of only xxxx made". Not that the car is "number xxxx to come off the line" (we can get that right off the VIN of course), but how many are just like his.

Here are the specs:

2000 C5 Coupe, Bowling Green exterior, and the "oak" interior. He's got the polished wheels, and the clear targa top.

It's also an automatic (I know, I know - but the guy's over 50 and driven manuals his whole life - give a senior a break! ;)).

Any info would be awesome, or links to find the info. We already know that there were ~33,000 C5s that year, and only 1600 or so in the Green (nice!). We also know that out of 33,000, only about 3,000 (across all exterior colors) had the oak interior. And of course, a certain percentage of those were convertibles, too.

So right now, we're thinking he's got to be one of less than 1,000, considering that it is a green automatic coupe with the oak interior.

But pinning down the specific number of these made would be great!

Any help you guys can provide would be well appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to the :CAC

You sure picked a tough topic for your 1st post :D

I don't think GM keeps records as detailed as that...
They know how many had Green paint and how many share certain options it is the combo of the options that I do not think they are that precise on.

If they do, let me know - I have a red vette and I know it HAS to be rare ;)

Welcome to the Corvette Action Center. :)

GM doesn't keep records that are detailed to the specificity you are looking for. Usually the best you can acquire is how many Corvettes were built with a certain color combination, or a certain option, but not a combination of all options.

The best you can usually do...

in a case like this is figure the percentages. Such as--23% of all corvettes produced in 2000 had oak interiors, and 52% had this option. And so on and so on. But keep in mind, there are many variables so the answer will only be approximate.

Or you could say it is a rare one since it is the one YOU own!

Thanks a ton for the replies so far.

I know - I suppose I did choose a rather hard topic for my first post. ;)

I understand that this could be difficult information to get. I appreciate the link with all the numbers and percentages.

Would being any less specific be of any help to me?

For instance; forget the automatic, the clear top, and the polished wheels.

Any idea how to find out how many 2000 C5 Coupes with the green exterior and oak interior? Just that combo of body style/exterior color/interior color would be excellent. The other details are unimportant.

All ideas appreciated!

Approximate percentages

The averages would estimate 1124 Bowling Green exterior with Lt Oak interior cars.

The specs (link below) on 2000 production indicate 12834 cars had exterior colors with Lt Oak as an available interior color. Of these 12834 cars, 8681 did have Lt Oak interiors (or about 67%). The presumption then would be that about two-thirds of the 1663 Bowling Green cars also came with oak interiors.
