I've read here in the forums that the LS1 has a different firing order . My question is , was this just an electrical change or did this involve a major mechanical change to the cam , crank ect. rendering them incompatable to all other small blocks . Since this is a very different engine than other smallblocks maybe this stuff was already incompatable . Cliff

Hi there,
Yes, the firing order is different than any previous small block engine that has been produced in Corvette.
The largest reason for the change in the firing order, from what I have been told, is due to smoother idle characteristics. This also helps with the steeper camshafts that are used on Gen 3 small blocks.
Nothing is shared with previous Corvette engine designs, except for the bolt pattern at the bellhousing.

Thanks c-4c-5 . I kinda thought this was at least somewhat so , but , I didn't know everything was different . Cliff
