[FONT=arial, helvetica]I took delivery of my new C6 about a month ago, but had to put it in storage until the roads were dry and the salt was gone. This is a copy of an email I sent to my best friend. He enjoyed it, so I thought I'd share it with the forum members.
...it's been dry here for a few day and in the 40's. Snow has melted and the roads are dry. As I was backing up and maneuvering the car out of storage, I reflected...what a beautiful day for a drive.
And it was...gentle miles on the Interstate, various revs, coast downs, gentle accelerations. Even not going over 4000 rpm, this thing is like a Disney ride. A really good Disney ride, that lasts a long as you are in the car. Instant, INSTANT, throttle response. Torque that makes your belly feel good, even shifting at 3500 with partial throttle. The paddles are going to be a blast. As it is, they are still fun and give amazing control for gear/rpm. I worried that this is a "learning transmission" and maybe I should leave in D. At 60mph, using the paddles, I can choose 5 different gears! One time tonight I had it in D going about 40 on a two lane road and accidentally put my foot too far in it...man, it just BArked...(may have kissed 5 grand for an instant) it probably downshifted 3 gears and just grrrrowled at me. This thing might be scarrrrrrey fast. God, I love it. Gotta drive it 1500 miles, gentle like this, before I can really put my foot to it. Break-in is recommend gentle with easy revs and throttle openings until then. I'll drop the Mobil 1 at that time, and really have some fun. (I'll be careful) Not sure about the competition gray wheels. They are verrrry dark, almost look dirty to me. I saw a reflection in a store window I was passing and it looks startling. Dark, but the shine of the paint doesn't reflect, so it looks dull. I donno about these sneakers. I fit perfectly, and the ride doesn't beat me up, it's quite enough to hear the stereo, and has most of the luxury features my Seville had. The interior is inky black. At night, you feel like you're in a dark, black chamber with a really great, subtle exhaust burble - only the lights of the instrument display for inside visuals. No light reflecting off anything. I mean it's dark in there. The seating is loowwww. The bucket seats define the term. My butt is locked into the lowest part of the seat, with good support for the upper back. No problems with the seat.
I can tell, this thing's a beast. I can't imagine what a Z06 at full song must feel and sound like...
