Thanks to MotorAuthority, we now have the first clear spy shots of the 2018 Corvette ZR1 showing off that massive rear wing.

The prototype show in the photos looks like an ordinary Z06 or Grand Sport, sporting some massive rubber wrapped around a new wheel design as well as blue brake calipers.

Another thing to note is the exposed primer colored doors which could indicate a move from Sheet Molded Composite (SMC) doors to carbon fiber for an additional decrease in weight. We also see the rear bow between the rear hatch glass and the removable roof panel showing the same exposed primer color which could indicate carbon fiber as well; reminiscent of the C6 Corvette ZR1.

It's been reported that GM is working on a new "LT5" V8 engine, but it's uncertain if that engine will be find its way into this ZR1 or the upcoming mid-engine Corvette. If it doesn't, we could see a more powerful version of the Z06's supercharged engine pushing out 700+ horsepower.

Head on over to MotorAuthority.com and enjoy the photos!

Looks like the ZR might be a track rat. :happyanim: The rear wing is for cornering, and actually cuts down top end substantially. That wing is supposed to be the reason the Viper has broken all the Z06 track records...and the records the Porsche owned too.
