Flickering Dash Lights

Recently replaced the battery in my 1992 and everything was working fine for a week or so. Today, when I apply the brakes, the dash lights go out for a split second then come back on. Also noticed that when sitting at a light with the brakes on, the dash lights seem to be flickering slightly.

Has anyone had this problem before? Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this or how to fix the problem?

are all the lights out? what about turn signals lights? High beam light?
I've had that problem. On my dash there was a bad ground on the main harness connected to the dash circuit board.
Sometimes I would tap or smack it and it would be fine for awhile. Eventually I took that bad boy apart, got help on this forum and re-soldered the thing!
I'm not sure about the'92, but I'm sure there will be plenty of feedback right here.

All interior lights go out for a split second when the brake is initially applied but they come back on right away, albeit with a slight flickering/pulsation.

flickering dash

My '95 had flickering dash lights and even a rare 'SYS' message. It was a bad (very old) battery.
Is there a chance that your new battery didn't get the terminals tight enough? Or maybe it's the 1/1000000 bad out of the box battery?
But first, check both ends of all the fat wires leading from the battery. Especially the engine/body end of the ground wire (the most often overlooked connection).
Hope this helps.

Definitely helped, I tightened the connections on the terminals and everything seems to be working okay now. I thought I had done that when I installed the battery but should have double-checked before marking that job "closed". Thanks.

Just got mine out and noticed the dash lights pulsing slightly. Volts are 14.2 so...

Does it pulse with the engine off? Check and tighten battery cables first as was the case before.
cover up the sensor on the dash that contolls how bright the dash is and observe.
next, shine a bright light directly on sensor and observe.
If it still flickers under both those conditions, a loose or bad ground could be the problem.
If not, the photo sensor could be "tired" in which case I would live w/it.
