I have already had the car back to the dealer (I have 13k miles on it) and they said they replaced the switch (which one I have no idea).

Anyway, AM seems fine but the reception on the FM has much to be desired.

Suggestions?

I have a 2001 Coupe with the antenna in the windshield. I live 50 miles outside of NYC and the NYC stations only work marginally at best depending on the weather, sun spots or phases of the moon or whatever. The few local stations we have work well enough but the musical selections are weak. I bought a stock GM 12 CD changer on ebay for under $200 and I will use that. (It is a $600 option.)

My 2001 Impala’s radio, also with the antenna in the windshield, works a little better (but not much) . My little Isuzu truck has a pole antenna and it works pretty good on all stations. I wonder if the Z06 pole antenna works any better than the windshield antenna?

I have had 2 so far but they where the other way, AM was poor. Ended up having to put rear glass in both because the defroster grid had opens in it and was conflicting with the channels. Might want to take a look and see if yours has this, if it does run some fine steel wool over the grid and see if reception picks up.

Actually all Coupes have dual diversity antennas. One in the windshield and one in the upper portion of the hatch glass. The radio constantly switches between them depending on signal strength.

Its possible that one or both are unplugged. It has been known that an occassional C5 slipped out of the plant with a loose or unplugged antenna connection. I think the connector is located at the top center on the windshield and rear glass.

Worth a look anyway. My FM reception is great.

Up Periscope

My C5 vert has the automatic pole antenna and all works well. Both FM and AM reception is excellent.

HI there,
I would simply check the connections at the antenna module, located behind the drivers seat. This would be the first step.
Also, there have been some issues with insufficient grounds, which will also effect FM reception at the antenna module.
