This past August, while we at Carlisle, one of the more senior employees whom also happened to be hanging out at the BG musuem tent area at MidAmerica Motorworks ,happened to be there.

I do not recall the gentlemans name, but we got to talking, and he worked at BG back in jUNE OF 81 when our cars were built.

He too,as i also have heard, said that was no difinative true production number of beige over bronze 81,s built, but was pretty certain it was no more then 800 or so.

This was also the first two tone combo to roll of the BG line also.

BTW I would love to post some full size pics of my 81,but cannot seem to get seem to post anything larger then my avatar. Any suggestions as always, would be greatly ;shrugappreciated.

(Great looking 81 BTW)

later, Ken.

:w Ken,

I would bet that gentlemans name was Gordon Killebrew ;)

Ok, if you upload some photos into photobucket.com you can paste them to your threads. When you go to your pictures in photobucket you click on the IMG code under the picture. Then come back into here, right click and paste....EASY :upthumbs. Just make sure your cursor is two clicks past your letter.

Thanks for the nice compliment, looks like the twin to your great looking 81.

The paint is original as well as the rest of the car.

They really went all out on these first run clearcoat finishes, which were new in the industry at the time, and shows that the paint can stand the test of time with good care.

Here is another shot taken at the last vette show I attended of the year this past October.

The guy in the photo is a good friend of mine who went along for the ride.

I also have this somewhat unusual color scheme. I wasn't very fond of it when I first saw it, but it really grew on me.

Mine still has the original paint and pinstriping. It's definitely a 20 footer, being nearly30 years old, but she sure does glisten in the sun. I love having a color combination that isn't very common. It turns a few heads, and puts a smile on my face. Your pics are great, and it looks like you take great pride.

Can't wait for spring, to bring her out of storage and start enjoying the ride!

Definitely a very sharp and unique color combo.
Your car is beautiful.

Many thanks for the compliments everyone,we all take great pride, when it comes to our vettes, for sure.

But JJS,your 71 LT 1 is a rare beauty and a keeper indeed, great year, great engine and arguably one of the finest and definately rarist c3's around.

Im envious.

Spring is coming.

Photo compliments of 67HEAVEN :upthumbs .. Last year or maybe the year before, Heaven posted a series of articles from an OLD Corvette magazine including a bunch of photo's of St. Louis and Bowling Green.

I did a search for them and all the text and photo's have been deleted or moved to another storage reference site, but this one remained ;) I have copies of the articles, but you guys would have to be extremely NICE to me before I would copy them to a website for viewing here :D

Maybe I should forward them to our new Webmaster :) for posting on the Registry ... :w Paul :chuckle
