for the DIY people: tool help needed

SOME BODY TOLD ME JOHN VACUMS HIS TOOL BOXS OUT
Yup, neatness counts; the elderly mechanic that mentored me back in my gas-station mechanic days when I was a kid was always on my case when I didn't clean off (his) tools before I put them back, or didn't put them back where they belonged, and I never forgot that lesson, along with "A place for everything, and everything in its place". Works for me - I've never lost a tool (or loaned one).

Ferraris have been part of my hobby for many, many years - have had seven of them since 1972 (and wish I still had the 12-cylinder Ferraris I had in the 70's); have also done street rods, Cobras, Grand Sport, etc. - no ironclad loyalties. If it goes like stink, looks and sounds great, that's all it needs to appeal to me! :D

ever consider adopting a 39yo for a son?
;LOL

I'll throw in another vote for Craftsman tools, my first set (at age 14) was from an great uncle who passed away when I broke a breaker bar and returned it to sears for a replacement the salesman said "I've been here 20 years and this is the first time I've seen this style" as he gave me a new one.

As for chests buy the best you can afford for the tools you use the most. As time goes by you will accumulate "specialty" tools I keep them in an older box that was my first one.
I too use harbor freight for the speciality stuff like pullers and benders and Impact sockets, but use Ingersol Rand, Craftsman or Chigcago Pnuematic for the tools.
In the forty or so years I have been buying tools I have two rollaways with center and top chests at home and 4 boxes and a cabinet at work.

Nope! My daughters are 40 and 36, colleged, married, and gone; now it's MY turn to spend what they think will be their inheritance - hope they like Corvette parts :D

Barry, Sears has a great set in a nice box right now for around 200.. 4 drawers full of STD and Metric sockets 6 pt and 12 pt, Screwdrivers and wrenches.. Check out Craftsman tools cause they are the best....... Dave..

thanks. i'm going to go for the Craftman tools since everyone agrees they are good. Harbor Freight sounds like they might be good too for some of the "lighter duty" items and I can save some money there. Worth looking into anyway.
