I want to be able to change out the driving light bulbs ( What bulb is the replacement )and i cant find an access point to get to them..... I also want them to turn on with the parking lights( Test this on your car and see what happens..Can you turn on your driving lights without opening the headlights...)...What can I do in order to turn them on without the headlights fully opened and turned on

...apparently on my early production build C4( I have an early '84 C4 ) the driving light will not turn on w/o the head-lights fully opened and turned on...

...i was told that some c4 could have the lights off, the running lights and the driving lights would work and could be used...My brochure even shows the lights working without the headlights

By driving lights I assume you mean the fog lamps.

On my '88, there is a rocker switch above the headlight knob. That controls the fog lamps. If I pull out the headlight knob halfway (turning on the parking lights) I can then turn on the foglights with the rocker switch.

Similar setup on my 90, only it has a rotary switch. Turn on park lights then a push button switch to turn on fog lamps.
I also replaced my bulbs with a higher wattage. On the 90 you reach inside next to radiator to remove the bulb. A bit of a PITA to get your hand in there just right. Think it twists out.

I have an 84 corvette and it states in the owners manual that the "Foglights will not light until the headlights are on". I don't know how you could bypass this. Once you pull out the headlight knob and then switch on the fog or driving lights they will light only when my headlights are on.

This was true on my '84 until I did a small rewiring. Memory is fuzzy in this long-ago mod, which involved adding a jumper to the headlight switch. I will check my wiring diagram, where I think I made notes.

I did a piece for a Corvette magazine many years ago but cannot find it. Referencing my (amended) wiring diagram, I see I had drawn in the wire I added, reference above.

On the headlight switch connector there is an 'open' slot, between the dark green (next to red) and the black wires. I took power from that 'open' lug (powered when the parking lights are on) to the fog light switch, yellow wire.

You should verify this is correct by checking for power at that H/L switch pin only when the switch is pulled to 'parking lights' position. On the 'stock' fog light switch, power should only be available at that yellow wire when the headlights are on; after modification, when the parking lights are on.

This has worked for me with no problems for about 15 years, improved with the higher wattage bulbs.

this will help what do you suggest using to connect to that PIN and then should i use a wire tap to connect to that yellow wire coming from the open pin on the headlight switch

I am not a fan of squeeze-on wire taps. I prefer solder and shrink wrap. I have not looked at this for many years so you will have to pull the switch and see.

There is probably a male tap on the H/L switch that will accept a standard female plug. All my diagram shows is a brown wire, but yellow is probably a more standard and color appropriate.

I wish I could find the write-up I did, but I may get into my dash further with the stereo project I am finishing. I will try to get a look at my solution.
