All,
Need some advice. I found that the previous owner of my car cross threaded the passenger Cylinder 8. Imagine that. What is the advice from the gallery on how to remedy this? Can I run a tap up the threads and that be that? What about the filings?

Thanks

P.S. BTW, 1986 AL heads

The number 8 plug is a bear to reach with a wrench (therefore the cross-threaded plug) and it would be even harder to ensure you had a thread chaser tap in their straight.

I hate to say it, but the only satisfactory fix for this that I know of is to pull the head and have a good machine shop rethread the spark plug hole. If the threads are shot it might be a good idea to look for a new head for that side. I'm not experienced with using threaded inserts for spark plugs in a high compression engine. IMHO you do not want to simply chase the threads and slap a new spark plug in.
