Edmond has inspired me with his generosity in this thread so...

I have one Actuator Seal Kit available for Supporting Members. The kit is Ecklers part # 43857 and it includes 2 Actuator Rod Seals (A8263), 2 Actuator Dust Boots (31953) and 2 Actuator Seal Retaining Rings (34669). I purchased this while rebuilding the buckets on my old 71 but I snapped a pivot rod so I ended up replaing both actuators with new ones.

So, any Supporting Member interested, post a reply in this thread by 8pm Saturday June 25 and I will draw your name and ship it out to you.

I know this won't be as popular as Edmonds giveaway but it's all I got:gap.

For those wondering about what Supporting Membership is, follow this link. It's a way of helping Rob offset the cost of running this place I call home.

Supporting Members can be identified by the green text under their user name like in the first reply above.

no need to apologize. i think it's a great gesture on your part!! if i wasn't in the process of NEEDING parts at this point, i'd be more than happy to contribute something i might have as extra. at this point, NOTHING is extra as i know most of you can relate to, lol.

Hey Eric - so if I have one of my headlights that "tries" to work albeit very slowly (I'm guessing there is a vacuum leak) then is this the kit I need to purchase to fix that? I recall (last year) when I was tinkering with it and it appeared the leak was coming out of the dust boot. I know it wasn't it but when I attempted to temporaraily tape it up the light assembly tried to work better. So, is this the kit I need?

Thanks!

Please put my name in there too!! I see Betty Lou has a Hissing Droopi Eye!!:cool gmjunkie!!

Dawn,

If you put some tape on the dust boot and it helped, I would suggest getting the kit. Most likely the seal is leaking inside of the dust boot. The dust boot itself only serves to, well, keep the seal itself free of dust though I suppose it does provide some very minimal support since it is rubber itself.

When I did the work on my headlights, I also found that many of the lines were really dry, especially at the ends where they run into the various valves and actuators. I had done so much other work on the car that I didn't feel ready to tackle replacing the whole shooting match. So, I trimmed the ends of each line by about a half inch to an inch (as the slack allowed) and then sprayed them with a bit of silicone and re-attached them. I did this to every fitting in the system and when I was finished my headlights worked a heck of a lot quicker. It didn't fix them entirely but made a huge difference and didn't cost a cent.

Good luck!
