I heard a rumor that says that if you add freeflowing exhaust and delete the cats the fuelconsumption will increase.

This sounds really wierd to me, can there be any truth in that rumor?

Since I´m going to build a dual 2,5" exhaust with freeflowing mufflers and deleting the cats tomorrow it would be nice to get your opinion on this matter.

I don't know about technically, but my guess is if you have a better sounding car, and more horsepower, you right foot is going to be much heavier, resulting in poorer gas mileage. :)

That's been my experience. :D
The extra 20 horsepower had nothing to do with the reduced gas mileage. ;)
