It was the 79/80 school year - my senior year and when those pictures were taken.

I wonder if anyone ever thought these would be floating around almost 30 years later.

Great question!

It is difficult to say for sure. I can tell you however, that the piece was sitting on the bench in another picture. My guess is the flange that mates the exhaust pieces overhead with the turbos.

Here is the mystery peice he was holding when it was on the bench at one moment after blowing it up.

I've circled where it was on the bench here.

And if it is the flange, here is where it would be in the configuration

He's burning a CD. That's how big CD burners were back in the day. :L
