Front brake rotors

Has anyone replaced the front brake rotors on a 77? I was told I would have to drill out the rivets to remove the rotor from the hub assembly. Then just replace the rotor leaving the original hub. Has anyone done this?
;help

Yes, drill out the rotors if it hasn't been done before. The easiest way is to remove the castle nut from behind the dust cover and pull the rotor and hub off. Then drill out the rivets and take off the rotor. Then clean up the hub flange so there's no remnants of those rivets.

This will ensure that the surface is as clean as possible.
Then after installing the new rotor, check for runout, if there is runout try different positions, go for the position with the least runout.
