I have a 1989 conv that has a front cranks seal leak (as evidenced by the oil on the uderside passenger side of the car). My question is, could a bad front crank seal and bad oil pan gasket aloow extra air to pressure the engine enough to cause oil blowby at the vavle covers, or is htis strictly a ring seal probelm?

I thinking of getting the front seal and oil pan changed next week, but if thses two toems will ot resolve my issues, I may elect to rebuild the engine all together or drop a crate motor in.

Well replacing the front seal and pan gasket is obviously a good idea. As far as the rest is concerned you may have a crank case ventilation problem. Try replacing the PCV vales or adding valve cover breathers. Ring problems are usually not that severe with the 350 sbc until you reach the 200.000 mile range.
