For those of us who need to display a front license plate...<moan>...there is a viable solution I found. A company in TX, Double AA makes a all metal plate holder that mounts between the splitter and bottom of the bumper using the existing 7mm screws. It's easy to mount, easy to remove for shows, and makes zero contact with your paint finishes.
I was using the OEM stick on plastic holder, which made it look like a piece of blue-green snot was hanging off the nose of my 'vette. I found this product to be the best a compromise solution. There's nothing to break, it's well made and costs about $108 delivered. Here are some picts:
This is for 'wide body' Corvettes: Grand Sport, Z06 and ZR-1 C6 generation.
