Front Suspension

:upthumbs Welcome to :CAC

Sounds like u r going to build quite a Beast. Can't help much with the info u r asking 4, but there are plenty of Great C3 people here @ CAC that will more than likely have your answers.

Yes, the i is beside the o on the keyboard, I'm sure u meant Front Suspension, not Frint Suspension

Enjoy building your Beast, it will be awesome !

Maybe I'm missing something, but why aren't you considering keeping the Vette suspension? I thought it was pretty good and you can order complete poly kits from almost anywhere for these cars.

gwall, Welcome to the Corvette Action Center.

You will find a wealth of information listed on these pages. Rob has done extensive research and prepared powerful tools to help you get the most out of your Corvette experience. Click on the blue tabs at the top of your screen and hang on to your keyboard because you are going to take a fast and furious ride through cyberspace and learn more about your Vette than you ever thought possible in a matter of moments. You can also go through the portal and find some great suppliers of aftermarket and stock replacement suspension parts.

My vote is to pony up the bucks and do the performance plus complete suspension from Vette Brakes and Products. It is schweeeeeeeeeeeet. It converts you to tubular control arms in the front suspension, fiberglass mono springs front and rear (just like the C4 and C5 vettes), Bilstein shocks, poly busings, new ball joints, tie rods, fully adjustable ride height and stiffness, and all for about the same basic price as rebuilding your entire stock suspension.

I have this on my 69. I can not believe the way the car corners, and eventhough I have it on the second to the last most stiff settings, the ride is not too harsh on bad roads.

I would also suggest getting off set rear trailing arms and rebuilding the entire rear bearing assembly. This is going to cost you some major $$$, but well worth it in the end for the peace of mind and freedom to stick wider rear tires on that will go tighter to the inner frame.

Let us know if there is anything else we can suggest. I love spending other people's money!

You can rebuild the front suspension and like others have said, there are plenty of vendors that have all of the necessary parts to do this. I have just completed rebuilding my front suspension. Last winter I did the rear suspension. The only hard part for me was the front springs. You can do it.

thanx guys i appreciate it and the reason im changing the front suspension is that there's a little crack in the front suspensin bar ......i gotta tell you thou that car is amazing (btw her name is Vanessa , 'Nessa for short) when i first drove it its like you're getting the respect the car deserves., everyone looks and talks about it maybe cuz its of my age ( im 22) and not many ppl my age drive cars like that.........anyways i had doubts about keeping the car some time back but now i know that car will stay with me as long as she wants to

Welcome gwall and 'nessa!

I'm sure you'll enjoy it here at CACC, there are tons of information within the site and the members are friendly and helpful. As for you, it looks like you've been bitten by the 'vette-bug!
Come back often and tell us about you and your vette progress.
Heidi

Deluxe frontend rebuild kit (poly bushings, sway bar links, tie rod ends, ball joints, idler arm) --- about $200 @ Van Steel of Florida

New front coil springs --- about $50-$60 per pair @ Autozone/Advance

New front gas shocks --- about $40-$60 per pair @ Sears

A weekend or two of your blood & sweat + under $350 can rebuild your front suspension back to good as new ... as a bonus your neighbors' kids'll learn new curse words from you. Steering & brakes are extra. You can do it.

In addition to the fiberglass spring-tubular arm kit Chris mentions ... there's a kit to retrofit a rack & pinion steering ... and ... another kit that retrofits a power steering sector box that eliminates the ram ... and brake kits that retrofit HUGE calipers & rotors.

I rebuilt my front suspension a few years back. If I could go back to when I did the rebuild I would have done it the way 69myway did his. I would also get the steeroids rack and pinion kit. Im kicking myself for not doing it that way. :hb

Interior. I bought mine from Auto Accessories of America. I got the vinyl seats instead of leather. I drive the car too much, the leather would have cracked already. Vinyl is much much easier to clean.
