Fuel gauge/Check engine/Code P0171

My 98's fuel guage dropped to empty and then the LOW FUEL light came on and then the CHECK ENGINE light. After that the car started stumbling real bad. I filled the car up and the gauge recovered (I was not out of gas when this happed) but the CHECK ENGINE light remained and the car still had very little power.

I checked here on CAC and found there were many others with similar problem. What a wealth of info we have here!

I pulled the codes and had only one P0171C. This code is Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 1.

My question is what does this mean and what do I need to do?

Case Closed

It was a fuse. (Injector 1) #22 I couldn't beleive it. Popped in a new one and I was on my way. Man the pain and suffering I went through worrying about this problem. In the future I will start with the fusebox.
