Well, it looks like its official, my fuel gauge has stopped working. :(

Either that or I am now getting TREMENDOUS gas milage, because I have driven about 150 miles on this current tank and it still reads full!!!

Anyone seen this problem? Any tips/suggestions?

Thanks!!

I had that happen a long time ago - fuel gauge stopped going down. Had to replace the whole fuel tank unit. I was lucky as warrantee covered it.

If you have to replace the sending unit, at least it's not a real complex job. Just take the gas cap cover off, undue the electrical connection, take the hose connections off and unscrew the 10 10mm bolts that hold the sending unit in place. The whole thing just pulls out of the tank. Good luck.

Alan,
Let me see if I have this straight. (I have a 94 LT1 Coupe 6spd)
I just remove the gas cap and the wires and right there below the
gas cap is the sending unit?
and just replace it? (my fuel gauge isn't working either)
by any chance would you know what a new sending unit costs?
thanks

It should be. There are 4 small screws that hold down the lid assembly. Unscrew those and the whole lid assemble comes out. Then, wiggle out the rubber flange (don't forget to undo the little drain hose below it. You should now have a total view of the tank access cover. Just undue the hose clamps, electrical connector and 10 hold down bolts. And no, I have never replaced the sending unit, only the fuel pump. Let me know how it all comes out.

I'll do it...............Thanks!
