Fuel injector leak/stain?

Pulled the fuel rails and injectors out today. Noticed that there's a light brown stain (almost like rust, but on aluminum) going down into one of the injector ports on the manifold. Is this a sign of exhaust gasses getting blown by a bad o-ring? I do plan to have the injectors rebuilt anyway since they're out but was curious.

Also, you find the oddest things in an engine... there was a piece of STRAW (or hay, or dried grass) curled around one of the injectors, past the O-ring. Makes me really wonder where that car has been and what other surprises I may find as I continue.

could it of been the o-ring breaking down?

Maybe a little fuel leaking from the top of the injector, or hopefully not an external leak of the injector body itself. Be sure and tell who ever is doing your injectors what you observed and indicate which one it is if possible.

Best of luck,

Gordon
