I took my 70 454 out for a drive and i noticed that letting off the gas rewarded me with a popping noise from the exhaust. A few minutes later while driving (2500 rpm) i pushed the gas and there was no change in rpm, exhaust note or foreward acceleration. What do you guys think... I think its the fuel pump dying, the gas tank is full. Also the problem is intermittent, on the drive home later that same day none of the problems recurred.
thanks for the help

Process Of Elimination

Start with the filter or filters as the case may be. The pump can be checked also by disconnecting the line going to the carb and holding a coffee can or container to catch the gas. Try the simple fix first.

good call!, I had a car years ago that had similar problems and it had turned out to be a clogged fuel filter, i had forgotten all about it.
thanks, i know what im doing saturday now
