Do I have to drop the tank on a 1987 convertible to change the fuel pump or can I do it through the lid?

Thanks

the LID

It's rather easy, as you will find.

Through the lid, piece of cake. Don't forget to change the sock. 84 CF 91 ZR-1

Thanks, Chiltons does it again

Thanks everyone, My chiltons book tells me that I need to drop the tank, remove the exhaust, etc.. a nightmare, I did a search prior to the post and found that I might be able to do from the top, I wasn't sure I could do it on my 87 because none of the posts that I found were relevant to a 87. I am throwing out the Chiltons and getting a real service manual, I purchased GM's electrical service manual for an 87, and will be looking for the rest of the supplements.

Thanks

Ben

Good move on the factory manual.!

But it has it's errors, too. I have the '87 manual if you're stuck, plus the '84 and '90.

DONE

Thanks everyone, replace the pump yesterday in 30 minutes, through the filler lid, no problem at all, thanks for the offer whale!

Please see my newest post, I have a stall problem that was not a bad pump, ( but the car is 15 years old and the pump wasn't that expensive.)

Thanks Again

Ben
