Fuel Pump

Any body know how to change a fuel pump on a 2004 Z06? Do you have to take out the rear end? How difficult is it?

You do not have to take out the rear end. The main fuel pump is in the left fuel tank that is located right in front of the left rear wheel. If you pull out the left wheel well and then remove the aluminum shield that protects the tank you can see the fuel lines that run in and out of the tank.

You will need a special tool or a very high quality torque wrench to put the plate back in. The fuel tank is made of a plastic and if you tighten the screws up to much you will strip the holes out and you will have a bigger problem. If I remember what C4C5specialist said those screws are torqued to 26.5 in-lbs or 3Nm

Here is a walk through that I found.

HI there,
You have the FFS fuel system. The tank HAS to be dropped from the vehicle, because the fuel pump is in the TOP of the tank and its a BEAR to change.
The flexible steel crossover tube is very difficult to remove and install.
This is NOT a job for the DIY selfer.

Any advice on how to take out the fuel tank?
