Fuel sending unit/Pump

My fuel gage in my 1995 convertible does not register, and I was told by the local Chevy dealer that I needed to change out the sending unit/fuel pump. They quoted over $500 for the parts and nearly $300 for labor. I have now bought the unit (still need to buy a new gasket) and I intend to change it out this weekend. It looks like a very straigt forward process of removing the fuel filler cover, disconnecting the hoses and electrical connector, removing a dozen screws to get out the sending unit, replacing the unit and reversing the process.

Am I missing something here? I would appreciate any assistance.

Pull the fuse for the fuel pump, start the engine and let it run 'till it dies. This will bleed off the pressure in the fuel lines at the pump/sender asm. ....Later, Frank

Can you reach your tank sticker this way?:confused

That would be cool

Would that work on the 77 vette too??

Yes...don't buy it from your local dealer...call Cris at this number, he will send you one for 306.22 which includes shipping.
