Late tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, I'm loading the body-on-a-dolly on the trailer for the trip to the body shop.

I decided that I'd better cut out the gill-slits in the new fenders today......couldn't put it off any longer. Seems like I respond better when up against a deadline. :D

Why do I have to cut them out? They weren't cut when the fenders arrived and after 12 months of searching, finding and then begging for these special fenders, I just decided to deal with it myself.

I made up a cardboard template of the hole area, marked the cut line, drilled out the four corners of each gill-slit, then dremeled between the holes....leaving about 1/32" on all sides for final filing/sanding at the body shop.

I got one fender done today; the other tomorrow.

Curious about the fenders? See Chapter 14 on my site.

What do you mean cut out the gills, it seem they have them (the gills )in the fenders all ready dont want the gills?

Or are you saying it has the gills but there are no holes in the gills? Actually that makes more sence

Sorry I just left a 3 hour heated meeting with my staff and my head is still spinning

Yes, the gill-slits were not cut out by the shop that made them for me. The gills were there, but the slits were filled in.

You should be able to see the cardboard box through them.

Without them, increased underhood heat and more body lift at speed, not to mention that many folks would say, "Something just doesn't look right....can't quite put my finger on it." :D

THANK YOU SIR

But I do have another question for you.Your sending the body shop only the body?
Are they just going to do some body work on other parts of the car or are they going to hang the front fenders.?

And lastley do you have a projevt time frame for when the car actually hits the streets?

Yes......the chassis goes over for a "test" drop after the fenders, lower front valance and front signal light fiberglass are installed. Once doors and hood are all fitted, off comes the body again for painting.

All four fenders.......see Chapter 14 on my website.

May 2004.
