Hey everyone. I'm Kyle I'm 24 and I'm new to this forum and I'm looking to purchase my first Corvette. There is a 84 Vette for sale in my area. The lady selling the vehicle has it priced at $3500.

From what I can tell from looking at the car, it looks to have been sitting for a few years and it has 'running issues' as she described it in her post. This beauty does not run. I don't want to see this go to someone else who will let it just sit. My question is this; Is $3500 a good price or should I haggle?

Always haggle, get the best price that you can.

Welcome to the CAC

I'd say that is a good price but like was said above, always haggle. If she is asking $3500.00 she is probably ready to go less. Since it's been setting awhile fuel issues are probably the problem. Bad gas and sticky injectors, weak battery. It could be ab easy fix to get it running or maybe something more involved.

Sure. The worst she can say is no. That's better than offering her $3000.00 and having her jump right on it.

Ok so after talking to the lady selling this, the car has been sitting since 2008 and was not running when she put it in her garage.

Welcome to CAC!!!!
Good Luck with your purchase!!!!

Was it sitting in a garage or out in the open ? Does it need interior work? body work ? Ya gota figure its gona need tires, proably hoses, battery & so forth. Do you do your own work or gota farm it out? After ya figure out the cost to get it running, repairs, etc it might be a better getting a running C4.Thay will nickle & dime ya to death.Good luck & welcome to the forum.

Thank you for the welcome Wayback. The body and interior look pristine. I'm aware that it would be more cost effective to just buy a running Vette, but I would be buying this as my first real project car. I'm one of those 'built not bought' kind of guys. I do my own work. My plan is to RIP the engine and transmission out, rebuild the engine and replace the stock auto tranny with a manual tranny.

Life is an adventure good or bad .Be aware insurance maybe a little pricey and 84's had some issues .C-4's are an underrated series and lots of pleasure for cheap dollars .Tons of used parts available fairly cheap also this and other forums are a great source of information .Shop manuals can be helpful also .

Keep us posted and best wishes ,I'm excited for ya .
