$2.45-50/a gal in New BERN. That'ds almost $50 gallons a tank. Slowed the cruising down soewhat. That's eastern N.C.'s monopoly town.

Don't feel bad it's been jumping between .90-$1.00 a liter here in Ontario for regular, I don't even want to convert it to gallons..too depressing, the vette should be out this weekend & the ice is allmost off the lake so I can put the boat in soon & both like the good gas.

97.9 (CA$)per liter for regular here in the Okanagan. About 1.30 per liter for the Vette.
When will it end.

It's still cheaper than a gallon of Coke or Pepsi !!!

Gas is actually cheaper than bottled water (if you buy it by the individual servings;however, the Vette won't get far on Perrier. Gas prices are expected to rise over the summer to a possible $3.00 per gal. for premium grade. Hang on because the price of fuel is going to have a profound effect for everything moved by planes, trains and automobiles. Additionally, almost $2.00 per gal. for heating oil in the northeast.

Happy Motoring! Ron

Local Chevron was at $2.69 regular, $2.79 mid-grade and $2.89 premium (and premium only 91 octane in California) this morning.

Never used Exxon gas but noticed that in California, Exxon is anywhere from 10-15 cents per gallon cheaper for all grades. Anyone know why Exxon is cheaper than than Chevron, Union 76, Shell, etc. and is usually the same price as the off brands?

Wonderful comparison:eyerole ...when do you ever buy 20 gallons of Coke or Pepsi?
Why don' you compare it to $100 an ounce perfume?...;LOL Gas is still cheap at $3 a gallon compared with most European countries....If you can't afford the gas for your Corvette then sell the Vette and get a bicycle;LOL

Gas prices again

Try running bottled water in your car. You don't need bottled water but someone thought this country needed to run on the back of the of the car industry and now we're paying the price. At one time 1 in every 6 jobs depended on the auto industry over here. I wonder what is now with all the NAFTAs and import of steel.etc. I know, I know, walk or buy a Prius. It just seems we're getting screwed. We pay most of the world's bills yet oil is the base for almost all we use over here. It's just something about that $2.50 mark that gets me. Maybe 2.499 would be better. Thanks for the vent!

Good point!!! Just wait until prices on everything else starts to creap up as manufacturers/distributors start to pass the extra fuel cost on to the consumer. We will get hoses yet again due to ridiculously high gas prices....

gas companies are price gougin bastids...

We're at $2.40 for regular. But one of the stations in town has been selling for $2.19 for regular for the past week and they've been very busy! Last Saturday, I saw people lined up 3-4 cars deep to wait for gas. And the station already has 12 pumping stations.

That is another trip to the soap box...lol

Our local gov't has increasing gas taxes as an option to pay for road construction projects. All the taxes and fees keep going up, prices are steadily going up, yet salaries are falling behind.......

Slapshot has effectively made a very important point; as gas prices outstrip wage increases, the economy for the average working man is going to be affected in the most negative way. In Florida (Orlando area) where I live, many people work at or just above the minimum wage, (theme parks and such) so try to imagine workers paying for gas to get to and from work and pay basic survival expenses such as rent and food, and it is easy to understand the impending doom facing these individuals. Prices for all goods and services in this area are steadily increasing due to a booming economy; however, since FL has very little manufacturing jobs the wage scales remain low. The one bright spot is that we can be relatively warm in winter and drive out Vettes year-round-barring those pesky hurricanes!Ron

Wow! Gas dropped 20 cents Monday: $2.02 for regular and $2.22 for premium, a couple of premium brands. Last week I paid $2.43 for premium.

Now, I bet it goes back up by 30 cents or more next week..:cry

$3+ by mid summer for premium in many places:D

You guys want a little cheese to go with your whine? Anybody who can afford a Corvette has no business crying about gas prices. I have spent 35 years as a Petroleum Engineer producing crude oil from wells in Illinois. In the winter of 98-99 oil was $10.00/barrel and gas was $1.00/gallon. I didn't know if I was going to be able to pay the light bill or even think about ever retiring. Now it's my turn for a while. The American oil industry has tried to warn the public for years that our dependence on foreign oil was going to be bad news in the long run. But,because you can drive down the street and shop for gasoline, everyone is an expert on the oil industry and just knew it was only a conspiracy. Well now the towel heads have us by the short hairs and it is time to pay the piper. Why don't you just suck it up and shut up!!! I ran a string of casing in a well in Wayne County yesterday. That pipe was made in China and cost twice what it did 18 months ago. Why? Because the American steel industry has been gutted by cheap imported steel. GM and Ford are on the ropes due to import cars. Starting to get the picture? Now before you reply with a bunch of smart ass comments about how evil big American corporations and how you are glad to see them on the ropes better check and see where your pension fund has your retirement funds invested. - Bob

Hello Bob...now tell us how you really feel...hope you are not gonna burst a blood vessel in your brain...just calm down and sit back and relax with a nice cold glass of ice tea and don't get your blood pressure up over comments or opinions posted here...
...and btw...as you already know...oil companies have us all by the ballz...setting prices as the may...making billions of dollars of unnessary profits, choking most of the general public...but then again this is America, the land of free enterprise.....:w

Oh I forgot to mention something about "petroleum engineers"(like you didn't already know:eyerole )...they have always made way above average income in this country(and thats ok)..so you have no reason to whine about not being able to pay your bills unless you are overspending on things you couldn't afford..like a Corvette!:L

This is definitely the biggest fear I have. Once, the prices of our consumer goods increase, so much for your pay check meaning anything. :mad :ugh
