i have to remove the gas tank the line coming out is leaking right by FRAME ON TO THE MUFFLER anything i need to no before i start it looks like theres a rubber hose there, that is lecking...there is still gas in it should keep it in ..:beer
 
Not unless you want to spill it all over the place. Syphon it out as you wish. I just pulled my tank out today and did the same.
 
I would drain the tank before you disconnect the lines.
If your line you are replacing is a short piece by the frme, you could use a clamp upstream to pinch the flow off. But otherwise, you are going to have a continuous gravity flow of gas from the tank coming out on you.
