I didn't know where to put this thread ... but I thought it might appeal to our euro-brethren who appeciate big-inch USA muscle ... & the rest of us who follow circle track.
A local buddy of mine who’s running a Nascar Busch car this year (Ron Barfield, NBS #91 Zoom-Perfection Clutch Taurus) just came back from Germany where he served as a consultant/instructor for totally different kind of “Richard Petty Driving Experience School” ... Our German friends are embracing oval track racing with a distinct Southern flavor. A new series called “V8Star” http://www.v8star.de/ is using tube chassis, kevlar bodies ... and get this ... ROUSH-built V8 motors that appeared to Ron to be small block chevys (quote: "I didn't see no distributor in front"). These “spec racer” cars’ motors are injected with sophisticated computer engine management (likely reason for no distributor frt or rear .... probably sb ford) ... and make about 500 hp. These “spec racer” cars are something I’m not familiar with either but they look much like our Ford Contour & other makes of similar size ... but w/ 500 hp. Ron says they’re really neat cars. BTW, Ron’s entered Busch race at Milwaukee Mile this weekend ... not likely to be run better than p20.
FYI ... I can’t read much German ... and I didn’t find much English on the http://www.v8star.de/ site.
