Getting a little crazy!!

That $2.70/litre of gas translates to OVER U.S.$10.00 per U.S. gallon. $10.00 a gallon of gas is upon us in parts of Canada. :crazy

That makes a tank full in the ol '67 worth over $200.00 ;LOL

Stand by.................I'm bending over.

Some stations in the east end were still $1.04 this morning but others in the west end were on TV at up to $2.39 /litre. There should be heavy fines for this garbage and people should be aware which stations did this so they can be avoided when things settle down. If they are independents gouging the public I couldn't care less if were publically listed and avoided and lost their business. No sympathy from me that's for sure.

I heard this morning that Rita has veered east and the main storm isn't centered on Galveston but is heading toward New Orleans again. God be with all those through another hurricane, they're still trying to clean up and put their lives together from Katrina. The traffic from the evacuation is overwhelming.

Great web-site for weather information. NOAA.org http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/satellite.shtml

Find the Gulf of Mexico area and click on one of the "loop" links.
ie - Gulf of Mexico
Visible Image - Loop
Infrared Image - Loop
Shortwave IR Image - Loop
Water Vapor Image - Loop

After that, the images will load and then you can click the upper right "check-box" to show the predicted path.
ie - [] Trop Fcst Pts

The good news is that Rita should not directly "run-over" Houston/Galveston, but they will still get significant rain and wind to do some damage...question is "how much damage?"

Hopefully not enough to "gouge" us at the pump.

Funny thing.....in my 50+ years on this planet, I don't ever remember gas prices going up like a rocket ship every time there was a storm in the gulf until recently (like in the past two years). Could be a failing memory in my old age but more than doubling gas prices in less than 12 months.............I don't think so! This is not Bush's fault directly, but it's the fault of greedy oil companies reaping profits at the expense of the WORLD economy and getting away with it. When I drive past a gas station on the way home and it's gone up 5 cents/gal since the morning, then go by the next morning and it's up another 5 cents without a single delivery, that's called price gouging!!!!!!!! There's a consumer protection law in my state (still, I believe) preventing merchants from remarking goods on the grocery shelves when there's a price increase, how come the oil companies can get away with it with gas sitting in the tanks at a station. Around here they call the distriberter every morning to find out what the price is then adjust the selling price. Give me a break!!!!

It's strange how in the last two weeks, since our Senators came to town to investigate price gouging, the prices have fallen 45 cents a gallon. What was $3.49/Gal is now $3.05/Gal. Maybe if they stayed a week we could be back down to $2.00/Gal. where it was last July at the peak of driving season.
