Getting my '97 back - what's involved in making it a Z-51?

Well, I wanted to sell my '97 and get the '84 back that I built from the ground up but some guy beat me to it. The '97 isn't selling for some reason (pristine condition M6 with 30K miles on it) but I said the h*ll with it, I may as well drive the dang thing then...

Anyhow, on to the question.... exactly what would be involved in making it into a Z51 suspension? I know shocks, bars, etc but I'm looking for exact parts and specs and haven't been able to locate that info in the net.

Sorry, Steve, I have to admit that I simply don't know the answer to your question. Give it some time though- the more technical the question, the longer it takes before someone who knows the answer comes by and answers.

But I am glad to hear you'll be remaining a C5 owner- at least for a while yet.

Hi there,
You would have to add the following to make it a Z51 package.
Power steering cooler, shocks, swaybars, and springs.
All must be FE3 or Z51 options.
Front spring 22178729
Rear spring 22146646
Front shocks(2)10431990
Rear shocks(2)10431992
Front sway bar 10424741
Rear sway bar 10289345
Front sway bar bushings(2)10436127
Rear sway bar bushings(2)10401553
******NOTE: When you replace the rear shocks, you MUST replace the lower pinch bolt and nuts. (2) 14048990 bolt and (2)10516383 nut. The revised torque is 107 ft lbs on the BOLT HEAD< NOT THE NUT.*******

No problem guys. The reason I said "nevermind" was cause I talked to my local Vette "know it all" and he told me I was nuts unless I was going to use it on a road race track, which I'm not.

He said that he could do it but, why? I didn't have a real good answer as it handles pretty d*mn good as is and decided that he was right.

This is an easy question, put your 97 up for sale, take that money and use it as a down payment on a z-51 car. Pretty straight forward if you ask me, and you did.
