Gibson 50th Anniversary Vette guitar

i saw one and heard it played...

billy gibbons of ZZTOP played it at the closing concert in nashville...it was in the rolling stone exhibit and then off to the show...its in the rock and roll hall of fame i heard later....i have pics if you want i could scan them for ya...it was made in nashville if that helps at all...he played 2 songs and put it away for this big white one.....about 5 times bigger than normal...those guys assualted the crowd for 2 hours...was almost funny to see the older gang leaving , but it was a long weekend and the show was free....they were like a couple of t-rex's just struttin around on stage and tearing it up...sounded as good as they did in 1981 at the toledo speedway jam.:_rock

Building on the relationship with Chevrolet that led to the development of the 1960 Corvette Les Paul and 1963 Stingray SG, the Custom Shop is proud to introduce the 50th Anniversary Corvette guitar. Based loosely on the Custom Shop DC Pro, the Corvette guitar's design draws heavily on the 'Vette's smooth, unbroken lines, and features the 50th Anniversary badge and a top contoured to resemble the engine exhaust vent found on the Corvette.

The 50th Anniversary Corvette Les Paul will be available in a Limited Edition of 50.

Glad I stumbled across this post... That is one beautiful guitar. I'll never be able to own one of the 50 but I do own a pin just like it... won it on Ebay for about 5 bucks. I'm proud to say I do own one Gibson though. An acoustic my parents got me for Christmas in 1966. Still have it... Those were the days...

NO kidding? A 66 Gibson?
Gotta sendme a pic or drag it out in the Vette someday soon.

I have my 69 Gibson Hummingbird Acoustic that was my main stage guitar for years. Now she sees studio time and thats it. sigh

Trying to get a run up to Monticello, MS and back (with a side trip to Picayune, MS and the Corvette Salvage shop).

Welcome to join us in a few weeks.

Hey, guitars are my other love, along with Corvettes. And, as in Corvettes, don't own any late models of any, but do have a 1955 Les Paul TV Model that I bought on Beale Street (pawn shops were there then) in 1958. If you remember "Happy Days" TV show, it's the same as the one Ritchey occasionally played on the show.

Also have a 1964 Gibson Hummingbird and a 1984 Les Paul Studio, in the Gibson line. Don't play out much any more, but still keep all my collectible equipment "just in case". Ha

Corvettes and Gibson guitars... man, it just doesn't get any better than this!:D

Tried to upload a pic but the file is too large. If I can figure out how to reduce file size I'll try to upload it again.

Rain, let me know about the roadtrip, would love to go if I'm not working.

Also found a 50th Anniversary Gibson for sale on eBay - opening bid $3k, don't know what the reserve is.

...And another link on eBay for a poster of a '63 SW coupe and another Gibson.

hmm, the guitar might be a scam artist using a hi-jacked account.

Rain - very good point. Since I wasn't bidding I didn't look closely at the seller info. I was too busy looking at the pics! You may be right. Anyone that could afford that baby should be able to afford better pics and a more professional set up of the auction. Come to think of it, there was something in the description that hit a sour note with me (pardon the pun) but I can't recall now what it was, I think it was the color listed. Anyone who owned the real deal should have documentation describing the color as Anniversary Red.

Brilliant Deduction my dear Watson!

Yes, that too tipped me off. Something that "rare" would have much more of a HYPE if the owner actually had possesion of the item.

I would assume this is someone who fell prey to the "you have not used your ebay account in a long while and we have lost your info. Please resubmt your credit card and address info as well as your password so we may update your account" scams.

Great guitar though!!!

I've Got a 2003 50th Anniversary Gibson Corvette Guitar....

....and yes, so does Billy Gibbons. My guitar is VIN Number E03NO44 or number 44 out of only 50 manufactured by the Gibson Custom Shop. (Unlike the 50th 'vette, of which 11,344 were manufactured in 2003.) Rumor has it that Billy's guitar is number 1, but I have no verification of that fact. It comes with a glass front, black, shadow box display case and a certificate of authenticity. If you're interested in having the ultimate matching accessory for your 50th anniversary Corvette, please get in touch with me at glruffii@gmail.com or 415-202-7833.
