Gills are of what material?

I started working on a set of 'gills', possible replacements, to increase the air pulled from the underhood space. I intend to keep the changes quite subtle, but may follow the C-6 Z06 pattern somewhat, if my subtlety of alteration spills into too subtle of a flow increase. :eyerole

I have begun the fabrication with fiberglass, but I think these parts are molded plastic! Anyone know for sure?

I have also thought a reverse scoop would look great there. Like the new Z.The little fins are a styling cue along for the ride. It would create negative pressure and maybe cool it down a bit.

More cooling airflow: my goal, indeed. I prefer the non-boyracer look. I have not seen a body kit I really like.

So far, I have doubled the exit area of one stock vane. It looks stcok without close inspection. I am mentally designing a subtle 'lip' to create a low pressure area, over the new slots. I can, but would prefer not to duplicate the Z's full reverse scoop, but I like the look. I can alightly alter the angle to the leading edge by cutting the edges and raising it to make a ramp; keeping a quite stock appearance. I plan to close off the air gaps inside the gills, near the frame, etc., to ensure the air flows from the engine area

The other end of it is to find or fabricate a NACA small scoop(s) to get more positive-ppressure air into the area. I am in Japan, now, and just looked at some racing/streetable RXs at a cool shop near the hotel. They have the only small NACA duct I have seen or found on any web search. I'd rather not have to fab one, especially as I may eventually need three or four.

NE one seen fiberglass NACA ducts for sale? Maybe I should go see JeffNLisa while taking some molds at the airplane boneyard at the old DM base!

The 'glass' is adhering to the plastic-like gill, as I roughed it up with 80 grit.
