Well, even if you're not knowledgeable, at least you're consistent; you rambled through the same silly diatribe the last time this subject came up and you puffed yourself up as the most experienced fuel system expert on the planet, and you're still as full of crap as a Christmas goose, just like you were last time.
:eyerole ;LOL

Thanks for the clarification, I thought it was just me.

...uh OK so you label me "not knowledgeable" - but those are still verifiable facts I and others have shared in this thread.

You can spin the "silly diatribe" label and avoid the subject at hand but a verifiable fact is still what it is.

Uh actually I'm not the one that likes to repeatedly post my professional resume as 'reason enough' and deny facts if they don't settle with what I pontificate.

FACT: millions of [non-Corvette] cars produced over the last half century have been racking up billions of driven miles with copious amounts of OEM installed " glass, plastic, or rubber between the fuel pump and the carb" and nope, to our collective jaw dropping amazement, they didn't 'burn up'.

I think I must be in error on one minor point. Perhaps not 'quite' all automotive engineers are aware of the above fact. ;)

Wow.....I wonder if *THIS* can get any nastier....

I like hearing all perspectives, even if the personal timbre gets a LITTLE thick....

Why if I wasn't trying to make the "300 Post" level with this post, I wouldn't even REPLY on this thread again!

:D

That's well said. I presume Johnz has plenty of great tech info to share on other topics. Unfortunately his opinions about fuel delivery engineering don't square w/ the facts and to that end he's personalized his negative labels at me and at times I've returned the favor. The later was my mistake. I'll do my darnedest to keep sticking to the facts and hunker down for the inevitable labels, trolls and insinuations bound to come my way.

As we can see by this thread, automakers, aftermarketeers and hotrodders alike have for decades had no problems now running rubber, fuel, plastic and glass (and metal) between the pump and the carb/intake including GM. It's really no big deal. WHy anybody seems bent on insisting it aint so when a quick stroll thru a junk yard, a perusal of factory service literature or a google search proves otherwise is beyond me.

Wow, a little perspective is in order, we are just talking about gas filters here and not world peace or the honor of a loved one. Obviously, there is history here I am unaware of and in this case ignorance truly is bliss. I accept there are a variety of opinions on this subject and I was just trying to get a reality check on whether what I was told about glass filters by the guy who dyno tuned my car was BS. After this thread I am no closer to the "truth", but as he gave me a nice anodized aluminum gas filter, the price being right and the level of mechanical ability required being as close to 0 as possible, the new filter is now hard a work.

Oh just stop it now! You KNOW you wanted to start

a fight!

EVERYONE knows there's four things polite people don't talk about:
Religion, politics, sex and FUEL SYSTEMS!!!

Hey, did ya here the one about the bisexual libertarian buddhist guy at Fram?

I will sure to add fuel systems to the list, although if it grows any longer I will be left with the weather as the only non-controversial topic. Yikes, I just went to the thread on electronic ignitions, add another to the list.

No, what about the bisexual libertarian buddhist guy at Fram.

well, for one thing...

...he used to work at MSD!!!

;LOL
