Anyone try the windshield polish, or is it time to replace the old pitted thing.

JB,

I read through a few old threads and see where it was suggested to "Clay Bar" the windshield. It appears this helped in some cases and not in others.

I moved your thread in hopes you may find a few more answers to your question. Good luck, and Happy Holidays.

If the problem is pits, your only hope is to take it to a professional for evaluation. They may well recommend replacement of the windshield. It may be too expensive to take the pits out manually. There's something to be said about having the original windshield if you plan on doing a restoration. If you have a "driver", you should probably consider replacement.

The polish that is discussed here on the car detailing section is for removing hard water spots, etc. They won't help with pits.

Sorry.

Without actually seeing your windshield I'd have to say that if it's pitted from tiny rock/stone chips your only option is to have it replaced as it's a safety issue.

If you do decide to have it replaced you're going to want to be quite selective....... especially for a non-fiberglass car. The tools that they use to replace can often put many small nicks in the paint below the window seal and eventually lead to rusting.

Thanks

Thanks for the info I think it's time for some new glass. Have a great Holiday season and god bless the USA.
