By the way, when will those cows get home? ;)
Good question.... and which cows are we talking about? The new cows, or the old technology cows.....;LOL
Looks like some cows came home already.

Only 300 miles on mine

OLDGOAT - I'm with you on the break-in! When I bought my 2001 Z06, I was on the drag strip the next day, with only 19 miles on the odometer! Now, that was a FUN break-in period!
200 more miles to go must vary speeds andnot keep it at any one speed constantly and keep it at 55MPH.:_rock

abc...reminds me of when I bought my first SS396 Camaro. It was a one owner with 10,000 miles on it. I went over the the owner's home with my Dad ( I was a young billy goat then ) and the owner and I went for a test ride. He drove the car about two or three blocks very carefully. ( out of earshot of my Dad waiting back at the guy's home ).

Well, he looked over at me and said, " Is this what you're looking for?" as he proceeded to nail it in second gear at about 30mph. The 350 hp 396 made a lot of noise, the tires smoked and I was a very happy little goat as I was plastered to the passenger seat. ( strange how those old iron big blocks could make so much hp and torque without even ONE microprocessor-the 101 octane av gas sold at the pump then didn't hurt ! )He told me this was the way he had broken in the car from day one.

I enjoyed the car for years and never had any trouble with the engine. The guy I sold it to for grad school expenses noted, however, that the clutch was toast....

So how to break in an engine as gee whiz as the LS2? I dunno. For all the real time computer engine controls, fuel metering, spark coils on each cylinder and what not it still has pistons running in iron sleeved bores to make power. Is an LS2 really that different from an old hi perf V8? I kinda think I'll follow c5vetter's approach. It will get babied for 20 miles or so and then....if it doesn't break it's a keeper.

However, you break in you new C6 have fun you lucky devil.

My Dad has been an auto tech for 40 years and he says the best engine you'll ever have in a new car is the one that when you leave the dealers lot you head for the highway and bring her up to 100 or so gradually. He has dones this for years and always had great luck.

Nothing like that brand new car smell. But the oldies still have alot of character and even more so today. Some of those old Corvettes cost just as much if not more than a new C-6 not many but some restored models you would be surprised of those asking prices. At least I have a warranty.

67 Heaven

I hate to get away from the original topic but your red 67 is awesome, in fact it is the neatest vette ever photographed on this forum.

The C6 has nothing over your 67, in fact if l had a choice l would pick yours 10 out of 10 times.

Just had to tell you!

I would take the 67 over the C6 just like Alan. That car is just so bad@$$. I'll bet it could even get me a date! :L

Extended Warranty definitely

Edmond said:
It sure is. That's why when someone here posts if it's a good thing to get the extended warranty, almost everyone says go for it. If something in the computer system like a sensor goes south, that is hundreds of dollars right there.
:_rock I agree with you on this as there are over 200 sensors in the C-6 and mostly electronic in nature so when a PCM or BCM goes it will cost $$$$ also note because of the complex nature of the C-6 you really can't work or do your own maintenance and if that is the case then you should get the extended warranty but you are locked in by the stipulations of the basic warranty and extended warranty anyway.
I just had a Daytime Running Light/Turn signal go out on me and I hardly use it as I programed the DIC not to flash any horns or lights just to prevent this from happening.:( So now I have to 2 choices:
Send the car into the dealership on a warranty repair for a light bulb?:ugh Parts told me that they do not stock the $15.00 bulb because the car is too new that they would have to get it from the factory. So they said Just send it to the Service department let GM pay for it :) and let the Service Department diagnose the problem and if it is just the bulb they will order it.
Or I can buy the part myself for $15.00 and go through the agony of changing something that should be easy & simple and then gett my hands cut up :( changing a light bulb. But with my luck there would probably be some problem behind the bulb that caused it to burn out :ugh meaning that the bulb was just a symptom and not the cause of this.:mad

I don't know why this went out as there is only 300 miles on the car and the lights are not used often even as daytime running lights I keep them shut down.:eyerole
